		<description>Kimball,

I love your comments. The contrast is very great between becoming a law unto ourselves and submitting to God. The former leads to misery; the latter to joy and growth.

Blessings to you.

<description>Yep. Charity conquers so many of our human problems! D&amp;C 121 seems to suggest that virtue and charity are the magic combination.

Blessings to you.

<description>Thank you for your article:Stumbling over the Truth.

All too often we loose the desire to follow the “Still Small Voice” because we determine to do “my will” instead. We become a “Law Unto Ourselves.” As Dr. Goddard has stated, this is an act of pride and sets the stage for failure. Obviously so. We can no more understand what is best for us than a child can comprehend the career choices he will have to make some day.

I have often taught my children that we must learn to ask the most important question first: What would God have me do? To do so required setting aside our own wisdom.

When it boils down to it, we have only two tasks in this life: repent of what has been done and obey the prompting voice of the Holy Ghost.

If our decision rule were to do these two things, we would be alright. But, instead, all to often we come to think that we have a better idea. Laman and Lemuel always had a better idea. Their line of communication with God was down, thus leaving them to their own wisdom. They were a “law unto themselves.” They would not listen to outside direction. They considered themselves wise enough to make their own decisions. In this case, you get what you get. Your reward is the result of your own wisdom, which in my own case has not been very pleasant. We soon learn that our own wisdom results in disaster, despair and unfulfilled lives.

Wally Goddard has hit the nail square on the head again. The truly “Changed” person will be in touch with the divine. When we are truly “Born Again” our decision rule will be: I will listen to and obey the prompting voice of the Holy Ghost.

		<description>Wally,

Thanks for this today. I think Thom tried to say all these same things to me yesterday. My son is struggling with some serious health issues which he kept from me so I would not worry and has been out of work for while, with no end in sight. All the struggles hitting him at once are causing a crisis of his faith. Today the spirir whispered to me that this is not my trial it is his and that if I take it on as if it was mine, I won&#039;t be able to be a source of strength to him.

You are always a fount of wisdom. Keep it coming.

Thanks!

<description>Thank you for pointing out the many facts that have held me hostage. You are so right on these principles...it makes sense. As you taught me many times, I am led to believe that CHARITY is the cure for all of the problems that I face in my relationships w/ my children and husband. I&#039;ve seen joy and peace enter my life ever since I made the choice to take up CHARITY to overlook their faults and weaknesses. It&#039;s a lot of hard work, but the Lord gives me strength to do it little by little. Thank you for another reminder to continue to turn to the Lord who is MIGHTY TO SAVE!!</description>
