It is interesting to me that Mary's annointing with ointment seems to be in preparation for Jesus' imminent death and burial. She seems to know of his impending death when even his disciples and apostles do not. Jesus' words about her are also instructive: "Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much..." This is a beautiful story, and there is much to learn from it.
